Meet Krista

Born in Kelowna. Called by birth. Trusted by the Okanagan's birth community for over a decade.

Krista Evans, Kelowna doula and birth photographer
My story

It started with the birth that didn't go to plan

My daughter, Love, arrived by emergency cesarean. It was not the birth I had imagined. I had hired a birth photographer, and in the weeks after, those images did something unexpected: they helped me process what happened, grieve the birth I didn't get, and fall in love with the one I did.

That healing is what called me. First to the camera, to give other families the same gift, and then to doula work, because I wanted to be more than a witness. I wanted to be a support.

"I celebrate the honest and raw beauty in the journey earthside. I am a storyteller through visual art, and I empower through the movement of normalizing birth."

Today, I live in Kelowna with my husband Joshua and daughter Love, and I've supported more than 400 births across Kelowna General, Vernon Jubilee and Penticton Regional hospitals, and in homes throughout the valley.

Why families choose me

Trust earned one birth at a time

In birth work, the credential that matters most can't be printed on a certificate: it's whether the room relaxes when you walk in.

Trusted by professionals

Over ten years, I've built real relationships with the doctors, midwives and L&D nurses of the Okanagan. Nurses are glad to see my name on a birth plan, and that trust opens doors for my families.

Recognized internationally

My birth photography has been published in People, Vogue Italia, Cosmopolitan, Vanity Fair, the Today Show, HuffPost and more, and I'm a member of the IAPBP and Canadian Birth Photographers.

Deliberately small calendar

I limit how many families I take each month so that "on call 24/7" means exactly that. When you book me, you get me, not an associate, not a backup.
